Luigi Lombardi
Always passionate about aeronautics and space, he fulfilled his dream by joining the Italian Air Force Academy at 19 and then gaining the Master of Science degree in aerospace engineering.
For almost 40 years he carried out countless tasks and projects, all the while earning his appointments within the Italian Air Force, consequently developing a strong aptitude for command and project management.
Among others, he was appointed in 2004 as Program and Finance Division Leader in NAMEADSMA, the NATO Management Agency of the Air Defense MEADS program located in Huntsville Alabama (USA); then in 2008 as Director of the AMX 3rd Maintenance Depot located in Treviso.
In 2011, he was appointed as Director of the Territorial Technical Office in Milan, where he was responsible for managing the contracts between the Italian Ministry of Defense and the aerospace companies of northern Italy, including Alenia, Aermacchi, Agusta and many other important SMEs.
At DAAA, from 2013 he directed the Industrial Return Program Office and the Technical Directives Office, and, finally, he concluded his career with the Italian Air Force, directing in 2015 the 2nd Department “RPAS and Rotary Wings”. Retired in 2016 with the Brigadier General rank, he cofounded Aerospace Gateway newco, with the primary goal of enabling the best Aerospace Italian SMEs to compete in the global market.
Having concluded his experience with Aerospace Gateway in 2020, he founded in February 2021 a new consulting company, LOVAR Srl, of which he is CEO.
